Description

Budd Dome Coach #1332. (the only SP&S passenger car that had four digit numbers.)

This is the only Budd Dome Coach owned by the SP&S built for the Empire Builder service in 1955.  One of sixteen Dome Coach cars that was built by the Budd company for the Empire Builder and  added in 1955. Three cars in this lot were owned by the CB&Q.  Noted that these cars have ownership markings in the upper corners of the car, SP&S in this case.  Typically there were three of these Dome Coaches assigned to the Empire Builder. Occasionally a dome coach was used on the Western Starr in the off season.

The GN called these ‘Great Dome Coaches’, not to be confused with the ‘Great Dome Lounge’ car which was the full Dome.

This selection ‘GN’s Empire Builder Great Dome Coach Single’ is for one car road numbers #1332. There is also a pair of Dome Coaches  option in this release and they have different road numbers.  So there are three total cars being produced at this time in this scheme. Be sure to not miss that pair of Great Dome Coaches!

These are prototype cars.

Lowell, thanks to you and your company SP&S modelers (myself included) are having a much easier time modeling the North Bank Road. Thank you for your hard work!

Thank you for all that you do for the N Scale community. Your products by far, in my opinion, are the top of the line when it comes to N Scale Trains and I am always on the lookout for them when they come up for auction.

Nothing better than receiving that white box from Lowell Smith.

I look forward to continuing to buy trains from my favorite special run train maker. That’s how I think of you now, “The Train Maker”.  And speaking of cool trains, I just received a box loaded with great looking Texas Special cars. Thanks.  I certainly look forward to all the new releases you are planning.

“You have no idea how excited I am about these cars . . .”

That car is about the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in N scale!  Excellent work!

I am looking forward to many more releases in the new year. I stayed up really late on Christmas to talk to Santa when he came by our house. I asked him for an n-scale SP&S 700, and he said that was out of his league and I’d better call you.
