Description

Louisville & Nashville Fluted Coaches

American Car & Foundry delivered sixteen fluted coaches  in 1946 to the L & N.  These coaches carried the train name ‘the Humming Bird’ in its car name/number board below the windows. The car numbers were actually printed in the upper corner of each car in very small two inch lettering. See the photo here.

Because of placement of the road number, we cannot accurately make this print. It only makes sense to produce these cars without road numbers, and thus will allow you to quickly build your train to the size you need immediately. We still plan to produce smooth sided coaches, it will just be a bit further down the track.

This release is offered as a pair, and are Classic Version of the ACF cars being decorated on our P-S fluted coach.

In later years, these fluted coaches were used on most all of the L&N trains, with The Humming Bird name still in place.  So this version of these cars will work for our L & N trains!   FYI-The Humming Bird ran from Cincinnati to New Orleans, the same route as the Pan American but the Pan also had through cars to New York City.  Where the Pan American departed on the morning schedule, the Humming Bird departed as the evening train.

If there is enough support, we could venture to the earlier version of the Humming Bird as well. What a pretty bird!

You are in my book one of the very best.

I am looking forward to many more releases in the new year. I stayed up really late on Christmas to talk to Santa when he came by our house. I asked him for an n-scale SP&S 700, and he said that was out of his league and I’d better call you.

I had perceived that there were delays in getting this last car into our hands, but thought it was a problem with China. Your letter…

The thing I love about all the things you do is the fact that everything is so well thought out, so beautiful and so unique.
