This selection is for the SINGLE F5A, Road #6505C
Broadway Limited will be producing these exclusively for Lowell Smith Signature Series for use in RailSmith production of our 1954 North Coast Limited. Â The colors will match the NPRHA’s drift cards so these will go perfect with our 1954 North Coast Limited train set. Â Â In this release, there are only TWO engines being produced, This A unit and a single (powered) B unit! Â Â Be sure to check out that as well.
Originally in 1947 the NP’s F3’s were delivered in A-B-B sets. It was determined that configuration created difficulty in turning the sets, so more F cab units were purchased to replace the trailing B units, thus changing the engine sets to the A-B-A configuration. By the time this Loewy Two-Tone-Green paint was applied, most of the ‘A-B-A sets’ had been broken up to serve as needed over the system.
Although this engine was a late model F3, the NP referred to them as F-5’s. The NP was the only railroad to give such a designation.
 In this selection, road number 6505C, will come equipped with DCC and BLI’s Paragon 4 Sound. This is a deposit only with the balance due payable before delivery, which is expected to be Q4 2024.  Total cost should be close to $264.
