And now for something completely different…

Words can’t explain how excited I am about this!

A few years ago, I decided it would be fun to do something completely different by ‘testing the waters’ in a larger scale.  It took some time to decide which company to use, as I was concerned for the quality of the finished product.  Never seeing the type of cars I do in the larger scale, and hearing horror stories about the four-color printing process, made me nervous.

Last year I pulled the trigger with Atlas Model Railroad Company, because they had two things that were important to me (1) quality and respected body style, and (2) integrity in the company.  Having worked with them in the past on many N scale projects, including some of my items for the Walt Disney Company, I knew they could be trusted to come through with a great product.  Nothing could prepare me, however, for the day that the first test sample arrived!  It was incredible and a real eye opener, to see my N scale Cascadian Apple car blown up to O scale!  The four-color Cascadian label contrasts so nicely on the orange reefer. I think it really came out great and I hope you do, as well!

I’m thinking this car will be of interest to my N scale friends since they’ll be able to see the detail in a different way but we’ll see how that goes. I also know that there are people out there that don’t collect or operate trains, but will want this O scale train to set up at Christmas time, and they’ll have an opportunity to enjoy this new line from Lowell Smith Signature Series!
