‘Western Trail’ – UP Sleeper
We have only a few of these cars available. This car was mostly sold in the ‘pair’ along with the car Western Wonderland.
Union Pacific ordered 12 cars from American Car & Foundry built with 12 roomettes and 4 bedrooms. Â Delivered in 1949, these cars were given the prefix ‘Western’. In this same order were two cars for the C&NW and the Wabash ordering ten. Â Four of the Wabash’s ten cars were used in the pool for the UP’s City of St. Louis while the other six Wabash cars were painted blue and used in other service.
One of UP’s 12 Western Series cars is Western Trail.
