RS – Rio Grande Sleeper Pair
$102.00
Planned for Q4 2024
Description
The Denver Rio Grande & Western had very few streamline sleepers.
The color scheme, known as ‘Grande Gold’ was introduced in 1949. In later years, a simplified single (black) stripe version was used.
This selection is for two fluted Pullman sleepers, the Glenwood Springs and the Colorado Springs in the four stripe scheme.
A limited production, these are classic versions of Rio Grande sleepers. Prototype Pullman sleepers used on the D&RGW had fluting below the windows and were smooth above the windows. Cars of this style could be a future project of ours, but these ‘Springs Series’ cars will be stand-ins until then.
We have chosen ‘Springs’ as it is in the character of how railroads usually named cars for geographical locations along the line. But being clear, these are not prototype cars, and we are sure you will enjoy them anyway!
