Sleeper Buffalo Rapids

One of three ten-six sleepers that the Pennsylvania Railroad assigned to transcontinental service. Delivered in the Two-Tone-Gray and later were painted in UP’s yellow and gray. The Buffalo Rapids was assigned to the New York to San Francisco trains such as the City of San Francisco and the San Francisco Overland.

In the Four Ways West book ‘Overland Route Passenger Trains’ we also see the Buffalo Rapids in a consist of the City of Los Angeles in 1956 (page 88).

According to the PRRT&HS book PRR Lettering Guide page 84: “During its last year of operation, the New York to San Francisco sleeper was carried by the Broadway Limited.”

Buffalo Rapids was built by American Car & Foundry and we will call this a Classic version of this car.

And as for your goal of 5 releases a year, I admire your ambition, but I won’t hold it against you if you fall short on that accomplishment.  I’m just thrilled you’re doing such an AWESOME job of releasing this amazing train, and hope you don’t stop until it’s all done!
