Description
Baggage 5014 was one of 2 cars that were 72 feet long, in this series built by American Car & Foundry in 1946-47 for the NYC.
Railway Post Office cars were used all across the New York Central system.
This silver car has the destictive dark gray lettering boards with the NYC lettering in the light gray. (A scheme I am very fond of.)
David Randall’s book is great documentation of these cars, and shows photos of these two cars with smooth sides. We are producing this car, in this scheme, with fluted sides.  With so many other cars to build, a fluted Budd RPO is NOT on our list. So this RailSmith 72 foot fluted RPO will be a stand in, and a very good one, for the NYC RPO.
RailSmith is happy to bring this never-before-produced car to N Scale.
We will call this, Â a classic version of this car.
For more information, talk to our friends at the NYC Historical Society.
