Presenting the NP Two-Tone-Gray sleeper #364 for the Cascade!

This car is the same car that is included in the Fleet. See that for best deal, ‘Fleet Pricing’!

The Southern Pacific, had eight, 10/6 sleepers that were assigned to the Cascade. Ordered from Pullman-Standard and built to Plan 4140, they were delivered in time for the August 15th 1950 launch of the new streamlined Cascade.  Each Cascade carried eight sleeping cars, four sleepers of this 4140 (10/6) floor plan as part of the trains 13 car consist. (Thirteen passenger-carrying cars grew to fifteen in October of 1950 when two fluted coaches were added.)

The Cascade’s Seattle connection: Three SP sleepers and one NP sleeper, assigned to each Cascade consist, extended the service between Oakland and Seattle. These four sleepers were transferred from the northbound Cascade, train #12 when it arrived in Portland, to the Northern Pacific’s train #407, which was one of the ‘Coast Pool Trains’.  The southbound followed a similar transfers.

The Northern Pacific provided two sleepers of this same 4140 plan configuration to this train, one for each consist. Painted to match the train but with NP in the lettering boards, they were cars numbered 364 & 365.

There are three cars in this run, two SP road numbers 9032 & 9033, and one NP car 364.  This selection ‘Single car NP Cascade Sleeper 364’ is for one Two-Tone-Gray 10-6 Sleeper. This car has never been produced in N Scale before.

This is a Prototype car. Be sure to see the rest of the 1950 Cascade Fleet!!

I am looking forward to many more releases in the new year. I stayed up really late on Christmas to talk to Santa when he came by our house. I asked him for an n-scale SP&S 700, and he said that was out of his league and I’d better call you.

And as for your goal of 5 releases a year, I admire your ambition, but I won’t hold it against you if you fall short on that accomplishment.  I’m just thrilled you’re doing such an AWESOME job of releasing this amazing train, and hope you don’t stop until it’s all done!

Lowell, thanks to you and your company SP&S modelers (myself included) are having a much easier time modeling the North Bank Road. Thank you for your hard work!

I look forward to continuing to buy trains from my favorite special run train maker. That’s how I think of you now, “The Train Maker”.  And speaking of cool trains, I just received a box loaded with great looking Texas Special cars. Thanks.  I certainly look forward to all the new releases you are planning.
