Description
Two Prototype Vista Dome Sleepers  – North Coast Limited
Budd DOME SLEEPERS #309 & #310 – Loewy Scheme
Built in 1954 by Budd, these cars were part of a ten car order, with one more car later built and delivered in 1957. Two of these were owned by the CB&Q and one, the #306 was owned by the SP&S. The rest were owned by the NP.
The North Coast Limited usually carried four domes, two were these famous Dome Sleepers and two were the Dome Coaches.
These cars were decorated in the striking scheme created by the designer Raymond Loewy. Known as the Loewy Scheme, this two-tone green made for a stunning train consist.
Although not always the case, one of these cars was typically assigned Chicago to Seattle and the other Chicago to Portland connections. That Portland car along with a Sleeper bound for Portland were transferred to the SP&S connecting train in Pasco Washington.
We are so very excited to bring you this Prototype car, that you never thought would be made in N Scale. but wait, this car has never been made in HO! (well maybe in brass but that doesn’t count 😉
There are two road numbers being produced at this time, for the 1954 NCL consist.
Happy Rails, on the Mainstreet of the Northwest!
