TWO Sleepers – Illinois Central
The I.C. had a total of 23 sleepers with ten roomettes and six bedrooms, all build by the Pullman-Standard Company.
Sleepers on the IC were given names based on the type of accommodations they had. Ten-Six sleepers were all given names that started with a ‘C’. Cars that were configured with 11 Double Bedrooms, the names started with “B’. Sleepers with 22 roomettes names began with ‘F’, and so forth.
We have chosen these two ten-six road names, not because they were assigned to the City of Miami, but rather because they WERE NOT! These two cars were assigned for ‘protection’. The term railroads use for holding a car in reserve, ‘just in case’. So these two cars could be seen on ANY Illinois Central train, anytime, including the City of Miami!
There are two road names being produced at this time. This selection ‘I.C. Sleeper Pair’ is for both sleepers in this release and gets you the discount allowance and discounted shipping for the time being.
Remember, if you order the City of Miami coaches which are IN STOCK, along with these newly announced sleepers in the same order, the entire order ships together when the sleepers arrive. So please order separately if you wish to get the City of Miami Coaches now.
