AMTRAK Dome Coach #9479

In May of 1971, Amtrak took choice cars from all of the prior railroads to build their fleet. It looks like they took every Dome car they could, and rightly so! That included many of the Budd dome Coaches from the GN, NP, CBQ and SP&S. This one from the NP was renumbered Amtrak 9479.

In 1972 the cars started being painted in this first version of Amtrak paint, known as Phase I.

This is a PROTOTYPE version of this Dome Coach.
