Description

This selection is for all three of the FRISCO Coaches.

‘CLAYTON’, ‘FERGUSON’ & ‘KIRKWOOD’

These coaches were built by Pullman in 1947-48 specifically for the Meteor. The METEOR ran from St. Louis to Oklahoma City and had connecting cars to New York City (Pennsy) and Washington DC (Wabash), and Chicago (GM&O), and to Jersey City (B&O).

The consist was as follows:  One RPO Baggage, often one or two heavyweight baggage (as needed), three or four Chair Cars,  a Dormitory Chair Car, one Dining Car, Coach Buffet Lounge, five  Sleepers, one Buffet Lounge Observation Car.  This was pulled by two E-7 locomotives in the bright red scheme.

The Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis, is a great resource for this information and I have relied heavily on their publication on the Meteor. They also show consists in the 1950’s and 60’s with more head-end baggage and heavyweight Pullman Sleepers in the consists.

I look forward to continuing to buy trains from my favorite special run train maker. That’s how I think of you now, “The Train Maker”.  And speaking of cool trains, I just received a box loaded with great looking Texas Special cars. Thanks.  I certainly look forward to all the new releases you are planning.
