AFT – Preamble Express – The Coach Pair
$115.00
Planned Release Q1 2026
Description
In 1974, this train was sent out to test the route of the planned American Freedom Train (1975-1976).
The Preamble Express train consisted of only four cars and ran all over the United States for five months during the summer of 1974. Its purpose was to test the routes planned for the American Freedom Train. At that time, the American Freedom Train was planned as a traveling museum for the 1975 and 1976 bicentennial event of the United States.
Never before produced in N Scale, this train was first pulled by Delaware & Hudson #2312, a U23b built by GM. Then later by a Union Pacific E unit also a GM engine all decorated in red white and blue and lettered for the ‘Preamble Express’. When GM became a corporate sponsor of the AFT, it was natural that the Preamble Express be pulled by GM power.
This coach pair will be ‘classic versions’ of these cars and will come with special commemorative inserts. The other two cars will be announced later this year. In the mean time, don’t miss the E unit reservation by making the $50 deposit for that single engine by following this link. Choose DCC Sound or standard DC ‘Stealth’ for that single engine.
Soon we will start to see more of the 250th celebration of the United States of America. We wanted to kick off the celebration the best way we could by building this unique and special train.
Planned for the 1st Quarter of 2026, this is expected to be a very popular short train!
