Description

Presenting Two-Tone-Gray coaches for the Cascade!

The Southern Pacific, ordered a fleet of 30  ‘Chair Cars’  from Pullman-Standard built to Plan 7436, and delivered in late 1940. (The Southern Pacific used the term ‘Chair Cars’, where other railroads used the term ‘coach’. They are the same.) These coaches were used all over the SP system.

The Cascade was introduced in 1950 as an all sleeper (Pullman) train. In 1953 four of these Chair Cars were rebuilt for Cascade service. Each Cascade consist, of which there were two, had two of these cars assigned beginning in 1953.

There are two road numbers in this run, 2430 & 2437.  This selection ‘SP Cascade Coach Pair 1953’ is for two coaches. These cars have never been produced in N Scale before.

These are Classic versions of these cars, and our first release of the 1950 Cascade!

Lowell, thanks to you and your company SP&S modelers (myself included) are having a much easier time modeling the North Bank Road. Thank you for your hard work!

And as for your goal of 5 releases a year, I admire your ambition, but I won’t hold it against you if you fall short on that accomplishment.  I’m just thrilled you’re doing such an AWESOME job of releasing this amazing train, and hope you don’t stop until it’s all done!

I am looking forward to many more releases in the new year. I stayed up really late on Christmas to talk to Santa when he came by our house. I asked him for an n-scale SP&S 700, and he said that was out of his league and I’d better call you.

As a retiree of the Walt Disney Company I look forward to upcoming releases of the Disney Family Museum and Disneyland series.  Keep up the excellent work!

You know I’m always looking forward to the next release and its arrival with great anticipation. I treasure my Lowell Smith Signature collection.
