2nd Chance

Southern Pacific ‘Chair Car’ #2380

Built in 1949 by Pullman-Standard, this car number 2380 was one of two ‘chair cars’ ordered by the Southern Pacific to be assigned to The City of San Francisco.

(Some railroads used the word ‘Chair Car’ and others used the word ‘Coach’, but all mean the same.)

When delivered, it was given the Armor Yellow and Harbor Mist Gray scheme that Union Pacific insisted be used on their ‘City’ trains.  It was also delivered with skirts which were later removed.

More can be read about these cars in the book Union Pacific’s Streamliners by Kratville and also in the Pullman Standard Library Volume 14.

This is a Classic version of these cars and has skirts.

There is one SP road number being produced at this time.

See the City of San Francisco Coach Fleet 2,  for special pricing on both the SP & UP coaches!

I received my observation/business car today and – like all of my other cars from you – I love it!

That car is about the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in N scale!  Excellent work!

I am looking forward to many more releases in the new year. I stayed up really late on Christmas to talk to Santa when he came by our house. I asked him for an n-scale SP&S 700, and he said that was out of his league and I’d better call you.

Thanks, Lowell, for another awesome addition to an already incredible train.
