Burlington Northern
Formed in March of 1970 with the joining of Jim Hill’s lines: CB&Q, GN, NP & SP&S. Passenger service on the new BN was very short lived as Amtrak was formed on May 1, 1971.
All major railroads maintained fleets of cars used for their own use. Business cars and other cars for special movements as well as instruction cars. On the BN roster in 1975, the company operated nine business cars. In addition, eleven general passenger cars were retained for use on those ‘special moves’. Our consist chart will show these eleven cars. It is our hope to produce them, but like all of our trains, we will need to see the interest to support that. Also, we will produce the paint version based on photos, either ‘Hockey Stick’ or not.
